Hello!
Guys, what do you think about the environmental disaster that happened because of the chemical train crash on February 3rd in Ohio. As far as I know, there a freight train, in which there were several dozen wagons with vinyl chloride, derailed in the evening. As a result of the accident, a fire first broke out, and then one of the tanks exploded.
I read fairly reputable US media every day (W.P.,N.T.,F.T., and CNN) but none of them covers this issue, as if on purpose. What do they say inside your country?

There's not going to be much in this situation. It's a remote town and not really on the national "radar" for importance. The local lawyers have already descended on the town to "help" the residents. There will be millions in lawsuits and illegal paper signings and of course government action and hiding. Just the usual.

Just ask him, Biden had the NTSB, the EPA, he CDC, and everybody that needed to be there, 2 hours after the train derailed. I cannot imagine any Federal agency was even notified within 2 hours. Heck, the locals were still trying to analyze the situation, and notify the state by the two hour mark.

Thanks Joe, Kamala, Pete, at least Pete showed up a couple weeks after the fact. Why would you walk around a hazardous waste site in dress shoes. Some people are wearing hazmat suits and some walking around in construction site clothes?

Erin Brockovich held her 2nd townhall meeting with the people living in East Palestine last night. She is asking why is Norfolk Southern controlling the narrative of everything being done and or not done, Why is Norfolk Southern in change of the clean up and not the EPA & DEP. She told people DO NOT sign anything from anyone with out talking to legal counsel or her before you sing a Damn thing Norfolk Southern is only looking out for Norfolk Southern. If you did sign anything let them know and they will see what can be done to undo the papers you signed..

What a F'n mess they created for these people and for some to say that's what they get for voting for Trump and the Republican's, unreal.

Because that is the way the law regarding transporting hazardous materials reads. The company doing the transporting is responsible for any cleanup.

The company doing the hauling is responsible regardless of who is at fault, then they go after the other guy if it is the other guys fault. It works great on the small scale (ie highway transport). Apparently no so great on the larger scale. Then again, we do not know the interactions between the rail company, and state and federal agencies. There could have been intentional, or unintentional statements made that could take the responsibility away from the rail company, ie the state dept of XXX could have said let us handle it. The governor has already said he made the decision to burn it, that could make the state responsible for cleanup, in that there was no spill before the cars were set ablaze.

Lawyers have changed this world from do the right thing, to weigh carefully anything you do or say.

I did not see the trial, but did see some of the closings. Not sure what to think. It does sound like the state did a piss poor investigation, I think the defense lawyers did a poor job, Yes, he was a thieving, flaming jack off but not sure he is a family killer.

I think they are allowing the trains to be too long. Empty light weight cars in front of heavy ones is a recipe for disaster.

I would bet anything those white steel gondolas are empty.

You can see the second and third come off the tracks, the weight from the back just pushes them off the track.

I would also bet the brake activators are not functional. The brakes at the rear should apply first. Or the engineer just throttled back, and did not use the brakes at all.
