I enjoy being in charge

I'm a moderator for a very large airline website. I took the moderator position as it gives me the ability to mete out punishment to people based on my interpretations and insecurities in real life. Am I wrong for doing that?

Sincerely,

That's not a Political discussion. But, we can discuss this one here as it's applicable to probably a lot of moderators.

I think some moderators feel this exact way. Met out punishment to people who maybe deserve it. Personally we can use an example of driving down the roads and in a big city like LA or Philadelphia the horn is the punishment metted out regularly. Ha, had it today in Denver as someone was sitting in an intersection trying to figure out which way to go. Blocking everyone.

Sounds like fun, sign me up!
I come from a different back ground. I have been in leadership positions most of my life, Mostly Military. I always look at any punishment as a last resort, as they often lead to worse issues, and eventually the person being kicked out in the end. I never looked at any of the positions as a position of power. Rather the power is just another tool given to accomplish the mission, and needed to be used sparingly.
